The Petercam story dates back to the creation of the two Brussels-based foreign exchange brokerage firms Peterbroeck and Van Campenhout at the start of the twentieth century.
The two family-run companies merged in 1968 to become Petercam, organised in the form of a partnership. In other words, the partners who owned the company were also the managers of the company. This spirit of partnership between managers continued when the group's holding company became a limited company. 1968 Creation of the limited partnership PETERBROECK, VAN CAMPENHOUT et Cie following the merger of the foreign exchange brokerage firms PETERBROECK and VAN CAMPENHOUT. Development of financial consultancy activities (Corporate Finance) via a sister company PETERCAM SECURITIES. S.A. 1982 Acquisition of a 50% interest in the company Finacor & Associés. 1985 Creation of Petercam Luxembourg specialising in asset management. 1986 Acquisition of an interest in the Swiss company CEPA specialising in asset management. 1991 Acquisition of an interest in SCA Pinatton France, an independent French financial group with similar activities to those of Petercam. 1993 Conversion of S.C.S. PETERBROECK, VAN CAMPENHOUT & Cie into a holding company with operational activities assigned to the subsidiaries: stock market activities to Petercam S.A. 1994 Acquisition of control of the stock brokerage firm PITTI & Co thereby establishing our presence in Liège. 1995 Creation of Petercam Institutional Bonds in partnership with the traders of the former firm Remy Frères & Fils. Takeover of the activities of the stock brokerage firm Beeckmans Van Gaver and opening of our office in Antwerp. 1999 Opening of two new offices in Belgium in Ghent and in Hasselt. Creation of our Dutch subsidiary Petercam Netherlands. 2000 Acquisition of full control of the company CEPA in Geneva (which became Petercam Banque Privée Suisse in 2002). 2002 Petercam acquired a majority interest in Concerto Capital Ltd, and opened an office in Paris. 2003 Petercam Nederland acquired a bank status in The Netherlands. Takeover of Petercam Securities by Petercam S.A. 2007 Opening of two new offices in Belgium in Knokke and Roeselare. 2011 Opening of two new offices in Belgium in Leuven and Wavre.
